Drilling permit for well 17/8-1 in production licence 976

8/18/2021 The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) has granted Lundin Energy Norway AS a drilling permit for well 17/8-1, cf. Section 13 of the Resource Management Regulations.

Well 17/8-1 will be drilled from the Deepsea Stavanger drilling facility in position 58°27'6.11"N and 3°31'9.19"E.

The drilling programme for well 17/8-1 relates to the drilling of a wildcat well in production licence 976. Lundin Energy Norway AS is the operator with an ownership interest of 50 per cent. The other licensees are Repsol Norge AS (30 per cent) and Petoro AS (20 per cent).

The area in this permit consists of parts of blocks 17/4, 17/5, 17/6, 17/7, 17/8 and 17/9. The well will be drilled about 65 kilometres southeast of the Johan Sverdrup field.

Production licence 976 was awarded on 1 March 2019, APA 2018. This is the first exploration well to be drilled in the licence.

The permit is contingent on the operator securing all other permits and consents required by other authorities prior to commencing the drilling activity.
